Chordfier

Privacy Policy

Effective September 22, 2026

This policy explains how Chordfier for Android ("Chordfier", "we", or "the app") handles information when you recognize chords, analyze recordings, sign in, or synchronize a library.

At a glance

Audio analysis happens on your device. Chordfier does not upload raw microphone recordings, playback-enhancement files, stems, or local file paths to its Cloud Sync service.

Information processed on your device

Microphone input, audio recordings, enhanced playback copies, detected chords, beat and tempo analysis, tuning measurements, and other musical results are processed locally. The app stores recordings and its local library in private app storage. Android backup is disabled for Chordfier data.

Information collected when you choose online features

If you sign in with Google, Firebase Authentication processes your Google account identifier, email address, display name, and profile-photo reference so Chordfier can show the signed-in account and keep each library isolated.

If you enable Cloud Sync, Firebase stores portable library information associated with your account. This can include session and folder identifiers, titles, timestamps, duration, chord progressions and events, musical key, tempo, meter, analysis status, and synchronization metadata. Cloud Sync does not include raw audio or device-local file paths.

If you explicitly enable product analytics, Firebase Analytics receives limited events about actions such as sign-in results, synchronization outcomes, completed or failed analyses, and library-item opens. It also processes an app-instance identifier, device and app information, and an approximate region derived from network information. Precise location is not collected by Chordfier. Events use closed categories and count ranges rather than raw audio, chord sequences, song titles, email addresses, names, or Firebase user IDs. Analytics can be turned off again in the app.

Firebase App Check, Google Play Integrity, and related platform services may process app, device, network, license, and integrity information or tokens to protect accounts and backend access from abuse.

How information is used

Service providers and sharing

Chordfier uses Google Firebase for authentication, Cloud Sync, app integrity, and optional analytics, and Google Play for distribution and platform integrity. These providers process information on our behalf or as independent platform providers under their own terms. We do not sell personal information or share raw recordings with these services.

Retention and deletion

Local recordings and library data remain on the device until you delete the relevant item, clear app data, uninstall the app, or delete the signed-in account as described below. Synced library data remains while the account is active and is deleted through the account-deletion flow. Limited security logs and backup copies may be retained by service providers for fraud prevention, legal, dispute, or platform requirements.

You can delete individual sessions and folders without deleting your account. You can also delete the complete Chordfier account from inside the app. See the account deletion instructions for the exact steps and scope.

Security

Information transmitted to supported online services is encrypted in transit. Access to synchronized library data is restricted by authenticated account ownership and backend security rules. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection, so Chordfier minimizes collection and keeps audio processing local by design.

Children

Chordfier is intended for people aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

International processing

Online providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their contractual, technical, and legal safeguards apply to those transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Chordfier's features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected here before the affected behavior is released.
